In the late 70’s Patrick took a break from a full time music career to pursue his other talent in art and design. He began freelance audio-visual consultancy which led to a career as Design and Interpretation Manager at English Heritage, winning seven awards for his creative visitor attractions bringing history to life.

He continued to write and record music, regularly popping out of his London office to record in nearby Wardour Street studios.
His ‘Hey Presto’ Eurovision song recorded there was a runner up for the 1976 UK entry.

Patrick left English Heritage in 2003  and, always looking for new musical ideas, began writing songs for children about daily activities.

In 2007, he teamed up with a kindred spirit, award winning cartoonist Mike Payne, creator of the globally successful cartoon character
‘Tatty Teddy’. Mike liked Patrick’s song writing so much that he asked him to write a song for his next project, but he needed it ready for
the next day.

After a semi-sleepless night, Patrick had written and recorded a demo of ‘Inside Every Heart’ and took it to Mike. It was a winner and Patrick joined Mike’s company to write the songs for ‘Charlie’s Ark’ -
Mike’s concept about a five year old boy and his animal friends in a magical toy ark.

The first of a collection of ‘Charlie’s Ark' stories CDs with songs written and sung by Patrick released November 2009
